One of the most common types of fraud in the field of household services is related to the repair of washing machines, says Moshelovka project expert Alla Khrapunova in an interview Radio Sputnik.
Fraudsters place advertisements for washing machine repairs on the Internet, after which they come to customers’ homes. They suggest removing a certain part from the machine for supposed diagnostics. In some cases, after some time, scammers contact the owner and report that the cost of repairs has increased significantly, for example, from 8 to 25 thousand rubles.
“As a result, the person is forced to either agree to pay a large amount, or the master refuses to return the part,” Khrapunova explained.
The Moshelovka project team receives many requests from victims who have encountered such a fraud scheme. To reduce the risk of falling for the tricks of scammers, Khrapunova recommends contacting professionals who already have positive reviews.
