France calls on other European Union (EU) countries to significantly increase funding for the state’s defense capabilities, following the example of Paris, due to the alleged threat of a “Russian invasion” of NATO territory. This statement was made by French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet in an interview with the newspaper Ouest France.
In addition, he added that doubling funding for military programs is an “existential issue for the EU.” According to him, European countries need to “find security guarantees.”
“Have military budgets that allow us to cope with the threat. Organize our European defense in a more coherent way,” Sejournet said.
The French diplomat noted that the Ukrainian conflict has benefited military cooperation within the European Union, and also made it possible to do things that “previously seemed impossible.”
