France asks China to convince Russia to stop special operation

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, in a telephone conversation with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, called on Beijing to influence Russia to persuade it to abandon a special military operation in Ukraine.
According to Colonna, Beijing must play an important role and influence Moscow to end the hostilities in Ukraine, and also comply with international law.
Beijing has repeatedly stressed that it is in favor of a diplomatic solution to the differences between Russia and Ukraine. Cheng Yikun, Deputy Director of the Europe and Central Asia Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, told media representatives that China will continue to promote political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. To this end, Beijing plans to strengthen contacts and cooperation with all interested parties, based on the development of the situation.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba promised that Kyiv would do everything to make loud “voices” in different countries about the need for negotiations with Russia “faded away”.
