FPA called on Bastrykin to investigate crimes against 12 lawyers

The Federal Chamber of Lawyers of Russia sent a letter to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. Lawyers ask to pay attention to the crimes against 12 lawyers. This is reported on website chambers.
In a letter (.pdf) lists such violations of the rights of lawyers as refusal to initiate a criminal case after death threats and beating by a group of unknown persons; seizure by law enforcement officers of documents constituting attorney-client privilege; the use of physical force against lawyers when they come to assist detainees at the Ministry of Internal Affairs; violence by convoy workers right in the courtroom.
The letter was sent to Bastrykin by FPA President Svetlana Volodina and Chairman of the FPA Council Commission for the Protection of Lawyers’ Rights Henry Reznik. In total, the letter indicates a violation of the rights of 12 lawyers: O. I. Bibik, S. A. Dedovskikh, S. V. Podolsky, A. S. Kalugin, M. S. Zyryanova, M. A. Moshko, V. S. Fedurin, A. D. Zhuravleva, I. A. Aksenova, A. A. Kutsenko, A. S. Turygina, V. I. Uryvaeva, E. V. Shvets and A. G. Grishakova.
“It seems that when lawyers suffer from criminal attacks, the investigative authorities of a number of regions have a very specific understanding of their duty to fight crime. In such cases, we have to talk not about the inevitability of punishment, but about the concealment of crimes of persons (including officials), whose names are well known to employees of the Investigative Committee units,” the letter says.
The leadership of the FPA asks Alexander Bastrykin to take personal control of the implementation of the requirements of criminal procedural legislation by employees of the Investigative Committee in the regions, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
