Former vice-president of Burundi received Russian citizenship

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Russian citizenship to Burundi’s former second vice president Joseph Butore.
Butore held a high state post in 2015-2020. During this period, in 2018, he was awarded the Russian award – the Order of Friendship.
The new Russian citizen has degrees in veterinary medicine from the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology and the Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
Prior to assuming the position of Vice President, he served as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Burundi.
