The Yekaterinburg court canceled the fine to the ex-priest for discrediting the RF Armed Forces

The Sverdlovsk Regional Court canceled the fine of former priest Vladimir Zaitsev in the case of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. This was reported in Telegram– department channel.

As it became known, in September 2023, the ex-priest reposted three posts on his social network page that criticized the actions of the Russian army. Law enforcement agencies drew attention to the publications. An administrative case was initiated against the man under Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.” The court sentenced him – a fine of 45 thousand rubles.

Zaitsev did not agree with this decision and filed an appeal. The regional court took into account the complaint. As a result, he overturned the original sentence on the grounds that the trial court did not take into account the expired statute of limitations for the crime.
