Former Russian Minister of Economy Yevgeny Yasin has passed away

At the age of 89, the former Russian Minister of Economy, honorary scientific director of the Higher School of Economics, Evgeny Yasin, died. This was reported on social networks by writer, former HSE professor Alexander Arkhangelsky and journalist Alexey Venediktov (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent).
“Evgeniy Grigorievich Yasin has left. Farewell, my dear,” wrote Venediktov.
At the end of August, Yasin was hospitalized with brain swelling and heart problems.
Yasin was the first mentor of the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina. He served as Minister of Economy from November 1994 to March 1997.
From 1998 to 2021, Yasin was the scientific director of the National Research University Higher School of Economics and director of the Expert Institute. Since 2018 – member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation.
