Former NHL star, two-time Stanley Cup winner and Olympic champion Dominik Hasek Hasek will address the European Parliament in July and ask to exclude Russians from tournaments, Zprávy Aktuálně reports.
In his speech, the ex-hockey player plans to put forward demands to remove Russians and Belarusians from any international tournaments. Also in his plans are meetings with influential officials, during which he plans to discuss measures of pressure on those federations that supported the return of athletes from Russia and Belarus to tournaments.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC.
