Former judge, and now a prisoner of the Moscow SIZO No. 6, Elena Kondrat has been on a hunger strike behind bars for almost three weeks. The woman says that she will stop the hunger strike only if a representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation comes to her cell. The intrigue of the situation is that Elena’s husband is a former Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
Recall that the investigation recently completed the investigation of the criminal case against Elena Kondrat, suspected of mediating a bribe. The woman does not admit guilt, she connects the criminal prosecution with the conflict between her and the chairman of the Moscow Arbitration Court (who allegedly used connections in law enforcement agencies).
At the same time, the court is considering a criminal case against her only student son, accused of contract killings. His parents also associate his persecution with the same conflict (prior to the initiation of a criminal case against the young man, Kondraty Sr. received, according to them, warnings). Be that as it may, both mother and son are now in jail.
Elena Kondrat went on a hunger strike on April 11, 2023, putting forward the only demand – that representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the TFR come to her. The woman wants to convey her appeals to them, including those concerning her son. She sees no other way to draw attention to the history of the family.
It is noteworthy that most of all the ex-federal judge wants to see a representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Her husband, a former deputy prosecutor general, cannot get an appointment at his own department: they do not accept him, and formal answers are sent to all appeals.
