Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wrote on social media that the Western policy based on constant military supplies to Ukraine and the logic of the escalation of the conflict did not lead to “the desired military defeat of Russia.”

He added that there was no defeat of the Russian troops in Bakhmut (Artemovsk), there was no disintegration of the units of the RF Armed Forces, just as there was no retreat of the Russian army during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Conte also pointed out that the economic sanctions imposed by the West against Russia did not lead to the bankruptcy of its economy.

In addition, the former head of the Italian Cabinet stressed that the leadership of Vladimir Putin has strengthened and hopes for the possibility of internal destabilization in Russia have collapsed.

Conte concluded that the Ukrainian conflict also exposed the EU’s inability to develop an independent effective strategy and emphasized the subordination of European leaders to Washington.
