Former defender of the CSKA football club and the Ukrainian national team Bogdan Shershun died at the age of 42. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). Information also confirmed press service of the Moscow club.
“Former football player of the youth, youth and national teams of Ukraine, 42-year-old Bogdan Shershun, has passed away into eternity. We express our sincere condolences to Bogdan’s family and friends. Eternal memory,” says the message in Telegram– UAF channel.
The causes and circumstances of the athlete’s death are not given in the UAF message. According to Ukrainian journalist Vladimir Zverov, Shershun died after a long illness.
Bogdan Shershun was born on May 14, 1981. The footballer played for CSKA Moscow, where he moved from Dnepr, from 2002 to 2005. Shershun became the Russian champion twice – in 2003 and 2005, and in 2003 he also won the country’s Super Cup. Bogdan Shershun played four matches as part of the Ukrainian national team. After finishing his career, he worked as a television expert in the field of football.
