Former Albanian president attacked during protest

Former Albanian President Sali Berisha was injured during an opposition protest in the country’s capital Tirana, he was hit by an unknown person. This is reported by the portal Kosovo online.
Tirana is hosting the EU-Western Balkans summit. Despite enhanced security measures, the opposition staged a protest.
“Former Albanian President Sali Berisha, who led today’s opposition demonstration in Tirana against the Albanian authorities, was attacked on Martyrs of the Nation Boulevard,” media reports.
The man hit Berisha on the head with his fist and tried to escape. However, the guards of the ex-president caught up with him and beat him. Next to Berisha at that moment was another former president of the country, Ilir Meta, but he was not injured.
Berisha was the country’s president from 1992 to 1997 and prime minister from 2005 to 2013.
