Member of the DPR Parliament Maria Pirogova died as a result of the shelling of Donetsk by the Ukrainian military, transmits TASS with reference to the People’s Militia of the Republic.
“She died, we confirm,” said a representative of the People’s Militia. Pirogova was 29 years old. The deputy has been a member of the People’s Council of the DPR since 2018. Her death was also confirmed by the mayor of Donetsk, Alexei Kulemzin.
Earlier, he said that at least six people were killed during the shelling of Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU). According to him, in the morning, arrivals were recorded at the building of the business center “Centavr Plaza”, the area of the football stadium “Donbass Arena” and the bus station “Covered Market”. He reported that there were black columns of smoke above the center of Donetsk. According to Kulemzin, at least 5 rockets from Grad multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) were fired at the city.
On October 19, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, martial law was introduced in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. In addition, a medium level of response was introduced in eight border regions, including Crimea, Sevastopol, Belgorod and Kursk regions, and in all other regions of Russia – a basic alert regime.
