The authorities of the Belgorod region decided to form territorial defense units. About it informed the head of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov in his Telegram channel.
“We are forming several battalions of those who, due to health reasons or within the limits of age, cannot be called up by the Armed Forces, but have combat experience and a great desire, if necessary, to defend their home and family,” he wrote.
Gladkov noted that a large number of residents of the region approached him with such an initiative from the first days of the special operation in Ukraine. According to him, the defense units are currently training in the border areas of the Belgorod region. The combat rallying of volunteers is carried out by experienced instructors “who have gone through a large number of local wars and have combat experience,” the governor said.
In addition, at the end of November, on the border with Ukraine in the Belgorod region, they began to form a security line. According to Gladkov, work has been carried out in the region since April to strengthen the borders. Today, December 6, the governor of the region checked the construction of the security line. “The work is big, the work is especially important for ensuring the safety of all residents who live in the Belgorod region. The work is proceeding in accordance with the approved schedule.” wrote he’s on Telegram.
After the start of the special operation, the Ukrainian military began to regularly shell the border regions of Russia. Since April 11, a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist threat has been in effect in the Belgorod region.
Since October 19, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, eight border regions, including Crimea, Sevastopol, Belgorod and Kursk regions, have had a medium level of response. Martial law has been introduced in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
