Foreign Ministry: Western countries cannot be mediators in Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Germany, Great Britain, France and the United States cannot claim the role of neutral mediators in the peace process in Ukraine. Such actions are impossible because these countries are involved in a conflict with Russia.
Similarly, the diplomatic department commented on the statement of the former head of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger. He previously stated that it is necessary to create a contact group on Ukraine. This is necessary in order to “launch the peace process.” According to him, this group should include Berlin, Paris, London and Washington.
“We are not officially aware of this initiative. However, Ischinger’s idea raises a number of legitimate questions. In particular, that all these countries are participants in the conflict with the Russian Federation, which is taking place on the territory of Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry added.
The department noted that at the moment these four countries are supplying mercenaries and weapons to Ukraine. Among other things, they supply the Armed Forces with intelligence and train soldiers.
