Statements by Western politicians about the supply of new weapons to Ukraine, as well as a meeting of NATO countries at the Ramstein base, are raising the stakes in the conflict, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“We regard all this as an open provocative incitement of the West and an increase in the stakes in the conflict, which will inevitably lead to an increase in casualties and a dangerous escalation,” quotes Zakharov press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to her, the tasks set within the framework of the special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine and eliminate the “most serious threats to the security of our country” and its citizens emanating from the territory remain relevant and will be fulfilled.

Earlier today it became known that the participants in the meeting at the American base in German Ramstein had not yet made any decision on the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. On January 19, US and German Defense Ministers Lloyd Austin and Boris Pistorius also failed to reach an agreement on this issue.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted that the possible sending of heavy tanks to Ukraine would have negative consequences. At the same time, arms deliveries will not fundamentally change the situation, but they will “add problems” for Ukraine.
