Foreign Ministry canceled recommendation for Russians to refrain from traveling to Georgia

The Russian Foreign Ministry cancels the recommendation to citizens of the Russian Federation to refrain from traveling to Georgia. About it says in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“The recommendation of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated June 21, 2019 to Russian citizens to refrain from traveling to Georgia is cancelled. At the same time, when visiting this country, security aspects should be taken into account, exercising caution,” the message says.
Zakharova explained that the measures taken “are in line with our principled approach to consistently facilitate the conditions for communication and contacts between the citizens of Russia and Georgia, despite the absence of diplomatic relations.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also gave clarifications regarding the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the abolition of the visa regime with Georgia. From May 15, Georgian citizens will be able to enter Russia for up to 90 days out of every 180 days. If citizens of the republic are going to study at universities, work, temporarily or permanently reside in the Russian Federation for more than 90 days, then they are required to obtain a visa.
Earlier today Russian President Vladimir Putin canceled visa regime for citizens of Georgia since May 15. By another decree, he stripped off a ban on flights of Russian airlines to Georgia and allowed tour operators to sell tours to this country. The decree comes into force on May 10.
The ban on flights by Russian airlines and the implementation of tours to Georgia by Russian tour operators has been in effect since June 21, 2019. The reason for the decision was the protests near the Georgian parliament building in Tbilisi due to the behavior of State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov, who took the chair of the speaker of parliament during the International Assembly of Orthodoxy. Gavrilov claimed that he was invited to take this place.
