In total, 3,719 people from 39 regions of Russia started skiing on the first day of the marathon. In addition, winter sports enthusiasts from Belarus, Brazil, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, Poland, Croatia, Estonia, Ethiopia, and the Republic of South Africa arrived in the regional capital.

Among the famous skiers and biathletes in Russia, Alexander Legkov, Evgeny Belov, and Viktor Maigurov took part in the marathon.
