The information center of the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the single voting day in 2023 will not be organized in the meeting room of the commission itself, as was the case in previous years, but in a third-party rented room. The reason for this was a large-scale renovation in the CEC building, Ella Pamfilova, head of the commission, told Vedomosti.
“Of course, there are certain inconveniences, but these are inevitable costs. But everything should be fine before the presidential elections,” she said. According to the interlocutor of Vedomosti in the commission, the repair will have to be completed approximately in November-December: at the end of 2023, presidential elections should be scheduled, which will be held in March 2024.
The deputy chairman of the CEC, Nikolai Bulaev, explained to Vedomosti that the commission is currently selecting premises for rent. According to him, the work of the information center will be organized as usual: screens will be placed in the hall, on which voting results from the Vybory system will be displayed, press approaches and inclusion of regional commissions will be organized.
