This news arrived in the Crimea from the city of Vyborg, where the Russian Championship in weightlifting among boys and girls was held. According to its results, the athlete of the Feodosia MBU “Secondary School No. V.M. Krivtsov” Margarita Siminyutina became a master of sports.
Our compatriot won three medals: bronze in the snatch exercise, silver in the clean and jerk, as well as bronze in the combined event, exceeding the required standard by 7 kg. She conquered another record – she was the first to open a master score among girls in the entire long history of Feodosia’s weightlifting.
I managed to interview a young weightlifter and her coach Andrey Snegurov. We met in the old hall of the Dynamo sports base, where strongmen from the national team of the Soviet Union held their training camp not so long ago. Now Margarita Siminyutina also pumps muscles here every day for two hours.
– I study in the 9th grade of school No. 17. I didn’t even think about the barbell until I met coach Andrei Nikolayevich, who lives next door to our family. He once said that he sees me as a future weightlifting champion, and invited me to training. Now I can’t imagine life without classes in the gym, ”Rita answered my questions.
– I am sometimes asked how I saw talent in an ordinary-looking girl. I confess honestly, a lot of experience as a coach helps, – Andrey Snegurov shares his secrets. – Before moving to the Crimea, I brought up children in the higher school of sportsmanship in Karaganda. There I learned to recognize at a glance whether a beginner has a chance to become a master. In this regard, he suggested that Margarita, in terms of her physical data, character, and determination, would achieve great success. And I will pass on my experience and knowledge to her (Yuri Komlach).
