Folk signs on February 28: do not scold winter

February 28 in the folk calendar – Onesim Zimobor or Ovcharnik. It is believed that from this day on, winter becomes “hornless”, that is, frosts can still be, but not as strong as before.

On the last day of February, according to popular beliefs, one cannot scold the passing winter – otherwise it can punish with blizzards, frosts and various ailments.

According to forecasts, a strong gusty wind is expected today, so it may be worth listening to another popular sign, according to which one cannot stand on Onesimus Zimobor in a strong wind, as it can “inflate” troubles.

Gardeners hardened the seeds that day. Our ancestors believed that if three mornings in a row at dawn take the seeds out to frost, and then bring them back into the heat, they will give a good harvest.

To enlist the help of Onesimus Ovcharnik, sheep were especially carefully looked after on this day.

It was also believed that things made of sheepskin or sheep’s wool have a special protective power on this day. For example, according to legend, if you wipe yourself with a sheepskin thing on Onesimus Ovcharnik before an important conversation, everything will go well.

It was customary on this day to invite relatives and friends to visit, especially those who have financial problems. It was believed that if you lay a rich table and treat everyone present with delicious dishes, prosperity will come to the owners’ house, and guests will no longer experience material difficulties. The guests, however, were not supposed to come empty-handed – in order to avoid quarrels in the future, it was necessary to bring the owners at least a small gift.

In order not to incur economic troubles, according to signs, on this day you can not discuss financial issues – neither work, nor family. It is not recommended to lend money or things – they will not return it back. Also, according to legend, today is a bad day for shopping – purchases will be unsuccessful. Not the best day for moving either – things that will be transported to a new place will soon be damaged or broken.

If possible, it is better to postpone any business until lunch – there is a sign that everything that you start doing earlier will not work for the future. And it is better to postpone the planning of important matters for another day – otherwise even the most risk-free ideas will not be able to be realized.

In addition, according to popular beliefs, today there is no need to promise anything – it will be almost impossible to fulfill the promise. Accordingly, you should not believe the promises made on this day.

Natural signs on February 28 are as follows:

– if the sun is purple and big at sunset, it will soon begin to snow;

– if the day is warm, September will also be warm;
