Folk omens on April 12: soap will be charged with power
[ad_1]
April 12 in the folk calendar – John of the Ladder.
In the old days, on this day, ladders were baked from dough. It was believed that each member of the family needed to eat such a ladder so that life in the house was prosperous. The ladder symbolized the path to the higher world and the connection between living and deceased ancestors.
In the evening, soap was taken out to the threshold and left there until the morning. It was believed that on this night it could be charged with special power. Such soap was called Thursday, and they washed themselves with it to improve health, as well as remove the evil eye or damage.
According to popular belief, on this day the brownie changes his skin and therefore can get angry and act outrageously. We tried to spend the day at home doing housework, preferably as quietly as possible.
Hunters and fishermen also sat at home – it was impossible to harm any living creatures on John of the Ladder.
In addition, according to popular signs, on this day you should not go to visit your parents – there is a high probability of a quarrel. And even if you quarrel with them at a distance, reconciliation will not work for a long time, and the consequences can be unpleasant for both sides. It is better to go on a visit with a gift that will be useful to the owners in everyday life. Today you need to dress modestly, but not in dark clothes. And if the dark color still prevails in the outfit, you need to diversify it with bright accessories.
Folk signs on April 12 are as follows:
– if at the first thunder the wind blows from the east or south – to a warm spring, if the wind is north – the spring will be cold, if it is west – it will often rain in spring;
– if the geese fly high – to the rains;
– if dandelions bloom – summer will be short;
– if the bees have already flown out of the hives – the spring will be very warm.
Dreams that will occur on the night of April 13 may indicate the type of activity in which we can succeed.
