September 30 is probably the most popular, after Tatiana’s day, name day holiday. They are celebrated by Faith, Hope, Love and … Sophia.

Little is remembered about Sophia on this day, although the Orthodox on September 30 commemorate all these four martyrs. Who does not know – Sofia was the mother of three daughters, whose Greek names were Pistis, Elpis and Agape, and in Russian they began to be called Vera, Nadezhda and Lyubov. In general, if there are women with such names in your environment, September 30 is an occasion to congratulate them.

By the way, in Russia this day was called the All-World Woman’s Name Day. On this day, men congratulated all women, gave them flowers and gifts. Women were also allowed not to work.

It was believed that in the morning women should definitely lament and cry about their fate and the hard lot of their loved ones. So they protected themselves and relatives from possible troubles.

And our ancestors believed that this day is good for treating ailments, removing damage and the evil eye.

Popular signs on September 30 are as follows:

– if it rains, spring will be early;

– the cat is washing – there will be no rain;

– to see in a dream how you work in the garden – to make a profit.

But to bathe in the bath, especially in the company, it was necessary the day before. According to popular belief, going to the bathhouse on September 30 can lead to a family quarrel. So with bath procedures, just in case, it is better to wait.
