But it is still worth finding some time to relax. And, of course, the most wonderful place for this is where flowers grow, a lawn is laid out and birds drop in to look for worm bugs.

So, the first thing to do is to choose a place for a flower garden. It should not be too shaded, not waterlogged, and not too dry. Think about its size and shape, and what kind of plants you would like.

If you manage to get out to the dacha in early spring, then primroses will receive the first delight and tenderness from meeting with the beautiful. Many of these are bulbous plants and should be planted in the fall. These are crocuses, and tulips, and daffodils, and hazel grouses, and primroses, and muscari, and many others. Particularly touching is the carpet of their blue sprouts and galanthus, or snowdrops. In addition, they do not need special beds, they grow quite well in the near-trunk zone of trees.

Scilla is not whimsical, but in order for it to take root well with you, you need to add a little forest soil with semi-decomposed foliage and tree bark to the garden soil. Between the landing holes, a distance of 5 to 10 centimeters must be observed. It is necessary to deepen the bulbs into the soil by 6-8 centimeters (depending on the size of the planting material. Well, after flowering, the seeds of the blueberry and snowdrops are taken away by ants. Therefore, if you do not want to regularly remove unnecessary plants from the site, then you need to pick off the fading flowers, trying this do before the appearance of the testicles.

An early blooming bulbous plant is in perfect harmony with decorative deciduous and flowering crops, which can be considered rhododendrons, spireas, gravilates, oak anemone, yellow primroses and lilies of the valley.

For a harmonious composition, plants that bloom at the same time are selected, combined with the culture, or contrasting.

Of course, what spring flower garden will do without primroses? This heather flowering plant can be planted with seeds, but it will bloom only after 2-3 years. But there are also hybrid varieties that bloom in six months. For novice gardeners, perhaps the most successful and simple method of planting and propagating primroses is the division method. The attractiveness of this method is that you can turn to its help at absolutely any time, including the period of active flowering. However, the most optimal and gentle breeding time is considered to be the division of primrose bushes when they have just completed their flowering. Spring plant transplantation is fraught with weak flowering. If growing primroses have become less attractive in appearance – the leaves were crushed, a year ago rather large flowers decreased in size, bare roots are visible, and the bushes themselves have weakened – then it’s time to start dividing, which needs to be done every 3-4 years. The bush you have chosen for transplanting should be watered abundantly, dug up and divided into separate plants.

You can disassemble the bush with your hands, a knife or a shovel. To obtain a large amount of planting material, it is enough to include in planting a plant that has only one bud and a small number of roots. It will fit in perfectly. It is important to keep a distance of 10-15 cm between the bushes and plant not very deep. In addition, it is required to ensure that the root system of the transplanted specimen is protected by its leaves from loss of soil moisture and undesirable exposure to direct sunlight. We complete the planting with abundant watering.

As for the lunar calendar, at the beginning of May – from the 1st to the 4th – favorable days for planting biennial and perennial flowers.

Most often, seeds of flowers such as Shabo carnation, lobelia, petunia, snapdragons, sweet peas, zinnia, marigolds, nasturtium, cosmea, calendula, gerbera, viola, pansies, balsam, begonia, verbena, ageratum, aster are sown for seedlings, phlox and others.

But do not worry if this spring you did not find time to start seedlings of flowers: the biennials sown now will delight you with their flowering next year.

For flowering in the same year, annuals sown in open ground are suitable: nasturtium, calendula (marigold), poppy, escholcia, lupine, ornamental beans, cornflower.

Many flower growers prefer to sow the seeds of annuals under the film: ageratum, asters, marigolds, snapdragons and others. It is necessary to transfer them to the planned place with a clod of earth.

Cosmea seedlings tolerate transplanting well, so they can be planted in other places. With its abundant flowering, cosmos (another name) will delight until frost.

Many flowering plants emit phytoncides, which are very disliked by nematodes, weevils, onion flies, aphids and cabbage whites. They are also a very good fertilizer and treat the soil from harmful fungi and bacteria. So growing flowers brings not only aesthetic pleasure, but also benefits for your garden.
