The regions of Ukraine are slowly sinking into the water due to abnormal floods. The rivers Dnieper, Desna, Pripyat, Western Bug flooded. According to Ukrhydroenergo, the water level in the rivers this year is almost a meter higher than last year, while the winter flood has been replaced by spring floods. “This kind of thing happens once every ten years. Due to heavy rains in the village of Ivankov, Kyiv region, a dam broke through, a strong flood began. The pressure of the water was so strong that the streets of the settlement instantly turned into a raging river.

“Somewhere in 30-40 minutes after the water began to flood the yards of private houses, rescuers and police arrived. They evacuated local residents and cleared the stream bed, which was clogged with debris. It took the employees of the State Emergency Service about an hour to clean the stream, after which the water began to drain,” Svetlana Ivankova, a resident of Ivankov, tells Ukrainian media.

Difficult situation in a number of villages in the Cherkasy region. In particular, in the village of Khreshchatyk, people travel by boat, rescuers bring food to them. “The water took everything! Boards, logs, benches and swings floated away,” says a resident of Khreshchatyk village. To save the car, it had to be tied to a huge tree. However, the car’s electronics cannot be saved, the interior of the car is half flooded.

However, as a result, the evacuation of residents was not needed – in just an hour, the water level dropped to 40 centimeters. In the village, local authorities are blamed for what happened: storm drains have not been cleaned for years, and they are clogged with garbage.

In Kyiv, the Dnieper River overflowed its banks and flooded houses 10 meters from the shore. Some private houses are partially submerged. Part of the Natalka park in the Obolonsky district has turned into a pond – where pedestrians used to walk, wild ducks swim.

In the Chernihiv region this year, the flood was the largest in the last decade. 488 households remain flooded in the region. The streets have become rivers that can only be crossed in knee-high rubber boots. However, the evacuation has not yet reached. The residents themselves do not panic and wait for the water to come down.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm. “Currently, the hydrological situation is under control. There is a trend towards a decrease in the rate of water level rise in the rivers in the north of the country. 1,741 households and 434 houses remain flooded,” the State Emergency Service said in a statement as of Thursday morning, April 20.

At this time, the Web remembered the prophecy from the book “The Biography of Priest Nicholas.” Archpriest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Dmitry Lebedchenko published a post where he recalled an excerpt from the scripture: “When Ukraine accepts autocephaly, it will break through the Kyiv dam and ships will sail across Kiev.” Of course, such a scenario is unlikely, but environmentalists have been trumpeting the fact that the Kiev dam needs repair for a long time.
