Five US service members were killed when a military plane crashed in the Mediterranean Sea, the United States Army European Command (USEUCOM) said.
“During routine refueling as part of military training, an American military aircraft carrying five military personnel crashed in the Mediterranean Sea. All five military personnel on board the plane were killed,” the report says (quote according to TASS).
Formerly US European Command reported about the crash of an air force plane in the Mediterranean Sea during an exercise. The incident occurred on November 10.
On October 28, USEUCOM reported that the USS Gerald Ford and USS Dwight Eisenhower carrier strike groups were in the Mediterranean to “support Israel and deter aggression throughout the region.” The teams also conducted a three-day exercise with USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), a US Sixth Fleet command and control ship, and the Italian Navy frigates ITS Virginio Fasan (F 591) and ITS Carlo Margottini (F 592). 11,000 American troops were involved in the exercises.
