In Russia, presidential elections are taking place from March 15 to 17. The CEC registered four candidates: Nikolai Kharitonov (KPRF), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated). For the first time, presidential elections last three days, and for the first time, remote electronic voting (DEV) is used. • Turnout in the Russian presidential elections throughout the country amounts to 3.33% at 10:24 Moscow time.
• More than 94 thousand polling stations have been prepared for the elections, and 113.6 million ballots have been produced.
• In system DEG voted already more than 900 thousand people, the Ministry of Digital Development reported. This is 20% of voters who applied to vote under the DEG. In total, 4.76 million people plan to vote through DEGs.
• On the Gosuslugi and mos.ru portals in the morning were recorded failures due to high load on the DEG system.
• In 42 regions passed early voting, in which almost 2 million people took part by March 14. This activity was mainly due to new territories. In the DPR, 47.5% of voters have already voted early, in the LPR – 17.1%, in the Zaporozhye region – 43% and in the Kherson region – 58.1%. In the rest of the territory, the highest rates of “early election” were demonstrated by the Magadan region, Tuva and Chukotka, but activity there was an order of magnitude lower (from 2.1% to 2.9% of voters).
• According to the Central Election Commission as of January 1, 2024, outside the Russian Federation 1.89 million Russian voters are registered. Early voting for them begins on March 1. According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, by March 12, early voting had already taken place in 23 countries, more than 40 thousand people cast their votes.
