Firefighter first reveals Princess Diana’s last words after crash

French firefighter Xavier Gourmelon said that he participated in the rescue of Princess Diana, who crashed in a car on August 31, 1997, along with billionaire Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. Guard Trevor Rees-Jones survived.

“I gave her some oxygen and my team and I stayed by her side as she was pulled out of the car. We managed to extract it very quickly, because we did not have to cut the wreckage, ”said Gourmelon.
But after a few moments, the princess stopped breathing. He gave her artificial respiration and massaged her heart. Firefighters are trained to provide first aid. After a few moments, the princess began to breathe again.
“Honestly, I thought she would survive. As far as I know, when she was in the ambulance, she was alive. But later I found out that she died in the hospital and was very upset,” said the rescuer. Gourmelon later learned that Princess Diana had serious internal injuries.
He learned about who the woman he saved was from a paramedic who arrived in an ambulance.
Gourmelon said the driver was already dead when emergency services arrived. Fayed was in poor condition, he had a cardiac arrest, and the doctors who arrived declared him dead. But while he was alive, he kept asking: “Where is she? Where’s she?”.
The bodyguard received extensive facial injuries.
The official report said that Princess Diana suffered serious internal injuries and a ruptured blood vessel near her heart, which caused internal bleeding.
