Finnish customs announced a mass of attempts to transport sanctioned goods to Russia

Finnish customs has reported multiple attempts to smuggle sanctioned goods into Russia since the start of the conflict in Ukraine and the introduction of new restrictions in 2022. Yle writes about it.
In total, 20,000 trucks were checked, transporting between Finland and Russia. In 1200 cases, customs officials required more detailed checks. About 180 cases ended at the preliminary investigation stage. Goods totaling tens of millions of euros were seized.
In the very first case of violation of sanctions, a Russian-speaking citizen was detained, he was carrying to Russia a large amount of cash, echo sounders and luxury items prohibited for export to the Russian Federation.
Among those detained and sentenced there are also citizens of Belarus, one of them was given a suspended sentence for trying to transport capacitors to Russia for a total amount of more than 20 thousand euros.
