In southeastern Finland, near the Russian border, planes began dropping edible rabies vaccine. This was reported by the Finnish publication Yle.
The vaccine is made in the form of a briquette with an edible mass, intended for animals. The Food Safety Agency clarifies that thanks to this measure it is possible to reduce the spread of rabies in the country.
Briquettes are scattered from the air between Virolahti and Ilomantsi, as well as from the South to the eastern border of Pyhtää.
Rabies has not been reported in Finland since 1991.
Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas proposed that the neighboring countries of the Russian Federation introduce a single trade embargo. The key decision will be made by Finland.
