The Moscow City Duma adopted a law that increases fines for ticketless travel, as well as travel on someone else’s preferential card. The law was supported by 27 deputies, 11 voted against, three abstained. “RIA News”. Fines are increased to 2 thousand rubles. and 4 thousand rubles. respectively, earlier they amounted to 1 thousand rubles. and 2.5 thousand rubles.
We are talking about ticketless travel in trams, trolleybuses, buses and unpaid passage outside the checkpoints of metro stations and the Moscow Monorail Transport System (MMTS), as well as for the illegal use of a preferential card.
In Moscow did not increase fines for free riders for more than 10 years, since 2011.
“We must understand that free riders steal money from our transport system, and therefore from you and me, from all passengers who pay. Moscow transport is one of the best in the world, it is actively developing, I think that this proposal is absolutely reasonable,”— explained the decision to increase fines, the chairman of the Moscow State Duma commission on urban economy and housing policy, Stepan Orlov (United Russia).
