Figure skater Matvey Vetlugin explained what his mistake was in the short program. He admitted it during a performance at the Panin-Kolomenkin memorial in St. Petersburg, TASS reports.

In his opinion, he should not have included an element that he had not trained for a long time before.

“I made a tactical mistake right before going to the start. I’ve never done a triple axel, a double warm-up, a triple loop. And now I decided to try to do a triple axel before the skate, and I did it very well. And the jump didn’t work out at the box office. It was a tactical mistake.”– shared the skater.

Let us remember that he scored 83.7 points, which is why his result became fifth in the ranking.

Earlier, figure skater Ignatov took the lead at competitions in St. Petersburg. Read more about this in our material.
