The International Football Federation (FIFA) has rejected Barcelona’s claim regarding the bonuses prescribed during Malcolm’s transfer to Zenit. Match TV reports this.
Barcelona, when selling the Brazilian to the St. Petersburg football club, included a compensation clause in the contract. The money was supposed to be paid if Zenit became a participant in the Champions League in the 2022/2023 season.
Due to the exclusion of Russian clubs from European competitions, Zenit did not qualify for the Champions League. However, Barcelona demanded that Zenit pay the bonus. This is due to the fact that the blue-white-sky blues became the champions of Russia and were supposed to get into the Champions League.
The St. Petersburg club refused to pay, and then the Catalans turned to the International Football Federation. FIFA rejected the claim, after which Barcelona filed a claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Earlier, MK in St. Petersburg wrote that the head of Zenit, Alexander Medvedev answered the questionwhy it was not possible to find a replacement for Malcolm.
