The International Football Federation (FIFA) is considering the possibility of allowing Russian national teams to participate in international tournaments for players under 17 years of age. The TV channel reports this Sky News.
If the Russian youth team qualifies through the European Championships, it may be allowed to participate in the World Championships. According to the channel, the Russian men’s team will not be able to take part in the upcoming World Cup in 2023, and the women’s team will be able to participate in the World Cup in 2024.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has already allowed Russian teams of players under 17 years of age in a neutral status to participate in international tournaments. The national teams of England, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway refused to play with the Russians.
