The Council of the International Football Federation (FIFA) plans to allocate a record amount of funds for the development of football in the amount of $2.25 billion for the 2023-2026 cycle. Almost seven times less was included in the football development program until 2016, it is noted in press release FIFA.
The FIFA financing program for 2023-2026 is called “FIFA Forward 3.0”. Thanks to its implementation, FIFA will be able to exceed its overall budget target of $11 billion for this period. “This means we will be able to provide more tailored services to our 211 member associations to help them implement their development and education projects and take football to the next level,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in the release.
In 2022, FIFA reported that it expected revenues of $11 billion for the 2023-2026 cycle. $9.7 billion of this is expected to be invested in the development of football. From 2019 to 2022, FIFA earned a record $7.6 billion, and from 2015 to 2018, the federation managed to earn $6.4 billion.
