The President of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, fired Fernando Diniz from the post of head coach of the Brazilian national team, reports G1. The decision is explained by the fact that Mr. Diniz combined his position with work as a coach at the Fluminense club.
Mr. Rodriguez announced the decision personally. He said that he liked the work of Mr. Diniz as head coach of the Brazilian national team, but he promised not to deprive Fluminense of a coach.
Fernando Diniz is 49 years old and has led the national team since July 2023. The contract was concluded for one year. The Brazilian national team played six matches during this period: won twice, lost three times and drew once. In qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, the team is in sixth place with 7 points after six rounds. Mr Diniz has led Fluminense since 2022. Under his leadership, the club received the Libertadores Cup for the first time.
