FAS revealed violations at a large taxi aggregator due to inflated prices
The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has identified a number of violations at a large taxi aggregator. They are associated with inflated prices, blocking drivers and passengers.
Deputy Head of FAS Petr Ivanov in conversation with “Izvestia” reported that in 2023 the company received more than three hundred complaints.
He clarified that the fees charged to carriers are too high. It is 28% and needs to be reduced to a competitive level. The aggregator, according to Ivanov, has not yet fulfilled the requirements.
The FAS representative also commented on the proposal of State Duma deputies to set a threshold for the maximum increase in taxi prices. The deputy head of the service noted that in this case the risks increase that the service will not be provided.
“For example, we limited the price, but the drivers didn’t go because it wasn’t profitable for them. In this case, we will find ourselves without a taxi at any price,” said Petr Ivanov, adding that the service pricing algorithm is not fully disclosed by the company.
He said that the FAS continues to analyze the pricing practices of taxi aggregators.
Let us remind you that in mid-February, Moscow residents faced a two- to three-fold increase in taxi prices due to snowfall. The cost of travel all major aggregators have increased.
