Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is preparing for the opening of the Russian Swimming Cup, which will be held on May 1 and 2 in the pool of the regional water sports school. The competition will be attended by 19 famous athletes, record holders, Olympic medalists, multiple champions of Russia, the world and Europe, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
About 250 athletes will gather for two days of starts, including Kliment Kolesnikov, Martin Malyutin, Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Andrey Minakov, Kirill Prigoda, Evgenia Chikunova, Vladislav Grinev, Arina Surkova, Svetlana Chimrova, Ilya Borodin, Maxim Stupin, Daria Ustinova, Petr Zhikharev, Alexander Schegolev, Daniil Shatalov, Danil Semyaninov, Pavel Samusenko, Anastasia Markova and Vladislav Reznichenko.
“I have never been to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk before. The farthest point where I got – Vladivostok. There is anticipation, I want to see the city, see how everything works here, how people live,” said Kliment Kolesnikov, silver and bronze medalist of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo, 6-time world champion, 19-time European champion. “The tasks at the competitions are very simple: to show the same results after the Russian Championship, because we will have only a couple of days to rest.”
The Russian Swimming Cup will be held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk for the first time. Athletes from all regions of the country will take part in it. In addition, the organizers intend to bring swimmers from all regions of the Sakhalin region so that they get to know and communicate with the stars of Russian swimming. Competitions will start on May 1 at 16:00. Free admission.
