The American company Valve has started test in the digital distribution service Steam “Family Groups”, which combine some previously existing functions, including Steam Family Sharing and Family Viewing, and also add new ones. For now, you can only test the updated features in the beta version of the application.

“Family Groups” will provide users of the same region with shared access to those games whose developers have allowed this function. It will also be possible to choose the role of an adult or a child, and adults will be able to set up parental controls and limit children’s access to chat, community and the Steam store.

In addition, it will be possible to control children’s play time, including approving or denying requests for additional time. Children were able to send requests to their parents to purchase games. In total, a family group can include no more than six people.

Previously on Steam appeared the ability to hide your games from friends. The shopping cart has also been improved: it is now unified on all devices authorized by the user.
