Scientists from the UK and Poland have concluded that characters controlled by artificial intelligence can influence people’s opinions on moral issues.
Psychologists invited 138 volunteers who discussed a particular issue with four interlocutors. The interlocutors were sometimes controlled by humans, and sometimes by artificial intelligence-based algorithms. Topics such as the appropriateness of using a telephone during a movie show were discussed.
If the opinion of three interlocutors did not coincide with the opinion of the volunteer, during the conversation he changed his position in 30 percent of cases if people argued with him, and in 28 percent if the characters were controlled by artificial intelligence
