The Moscow City Court reduced the prison term of former schemamonk Sergius (Nikolai Romanov), who was convicted of inciting hatred, by one month. This was reported in the press service of the court.
“The defense’s appeal was partially satisfied, Romanov’s sentence was commuted by one month, to a total of 6 years and 11 months,” the statement says.
In November 2021, Sergius, by decision of the Izmailovsky Court of Moscow, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for incitement to suicide, arbitrariness and violation of the right to freedom of conscience. Later, by decision of the Babushkinsky Court in Moscow, the term was doubled, and a charge of extremism was added.
