In the LPR, papers found indicate the deliberate destruction of forests in the Donbass by Kiev

Ukrainian armed forces set fire to forests in the Lugansk People’s Republic, which was previously under the control of Kyiv but is now part of Russia. Investigations into arson are ongoing. The damage caused to nature is estimated at tens of millions of dollars, as reported by RIA Novosti.

LPR law enforcement officials discovered documents confirming the involvement of the Ukrainian authorities in the destruction of forests in Donbass in the summer and autumn of 2020.

According to documents found in the building of the Severodonetsk prosecutor’s office, the total damage amounted to 2,874,737,320 hryvnia (more than 76 million US dollars).

“This is only data for one forestry,” the employee noted, presenting the materials of the criminal case.

The forest areas in the forest districts of the Severodonetsk and Stanichno-Lugansk districts, which were under the control of Kyiv at the time of the incidents, were damaged.
