“Almaz-Antey”: the radar field for controlling drones is expanding over Russia

The radar field for monitoring drones at low altitudes in Russia is actively expanding, especially in dangerous directions, said Dmitry Savitsky, deputy general director of the Almaz-Antey concern, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Today, this field has been significantly increased compared to the previous period before the start of a special military operation and continues to expand in various directions, especially where threats remain,” Savitsky noted, answering a corresponding question.

According to him, the radar field around Moscow, which makes it possible to detect and neutralize potentially dangerous drones, is mainly based on the concern’s radar systems. “These systems are diverse – both those adapted to work in new conditions, and those that were originally designed to detect low-flying targets,” he explained.

In the context of constant shelling of the central and border regions of Russia by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as drone attacks and sabotage, air defense regularly shoots down Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
