Evgenia Milova on social life at SPIEF

Last week it was very interesting to see how the routinization of the war affected the social life of SPIEF. Because in secular life outside the forum this phenomenon is very visible.

The number of events in the “ball book” of the forum is not a working indicator at all. There were about the same number of them in the pre-pandemic 2019, and the year before last, and even last year. Another question is that where the “Kvartirnik” of Otkritie Bank or the no less legendary Friday party of Mikhail Prokhorov were previously on the schedule, now the exhibition “Olympic Games in Artifacts. From the collection of V. Potanin. Or, let’s say, the opening of two photo exhibitions under the mocking title “Imaginary Journeys”. It was just right for Vyacheslav Butusov to sing his famous song about imaginary travels – “Goodbye, America”. But the Roscongress Foundation ordered Mr. Butusov differently – and he spoke at his big reception (as usual, without much enthusiasm). It was Wednesday evening, in parallel with the reception of the Russian Media Group at the Lotte Hotel. It looked good: a comfortable venue, a pianist, decent alcohol and snacks worthy of Kirill Shamalov, Viktor Evtukhov, Anatoly Kucherena, Dmitry Konov and other guests. But most importantly, the program did not include the Zemlyane group – on the contrary, they promised a concert by the legendary Yuri Antonov. What the guests were not warned about was the speech of the head of the RMG Vladimir Kiselev, his wife Elena Sever, Nikolai Baskov and Grigory Leps. And no, not with a song, but with a business proposal – a monetary reward for the destroyed tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. By the way, it cannot be said that this somehow particularly impressed the guests of the evening. They probably weren’t the target audience. This statement was not met with deathly silence, nor stormy long ones – rather with a mute question: “And Antonov soon?”. Like Mr. Butusov, he performed without great enthusiasm, but it was noticeable that Mr. Antonov at least had a good attitude towards his songs.

Traditional large banking receptions have maintained a trend towards compactness and / or culture. An exemplary cultural evening at the Sheremetev Palace was the reception of VTB and Andrey Kostin. The guests, among whom were Elvira Nabiullina, Sergei Ivanov, Sofya and Konstantin Ernst, Valery Gergiev, Alexander Zhukov, saw excerpts from Boris Eifman’s ballets, an exhibition dedicated to Fyodor Chaliapin, and a performance by Ildar Abdrazakov with Chaliapin’s repertoire. During the tour, the guests came to the plow, which illustrated the peasant origin of the opera singer. It was not immediately recognized as a tool of labor, but as soon as the proposal “well, now we will go further from the plow” sounded.

Gazprombank invited Vladimir Spivakov to a concert at the Philharmonic, where there were no speeches, let alone toasts. Instead of the large-scale SberNight, Sber chose to take Herman Gref’s friends for a ride on a boat. On the same wave, MKB entertained clients with concerts by Ivanushki and Philip Kirkorov on the Cruise by Kuznyahouse ship. By the way, the oldest boy band turned out to be extremely in demand in the new circumstances – when even the Beasts group did not pass the artistic council. In addition to the IBC, they performed at the reception in honor of the end of the forum and at the Ginza restaurant. So the singer Shaman will probably have to wait fifteen or twenty years before he is invited to perform at SPIEF parties.

Philip Kirkorov gave only two concerts – in addition to the ICD, he performed at the VK party. However, both “Ivanushki” and Mr. Kirkorov were outscored by the number of performances and stability of the repertoire by the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. In the role of the host, he was given the floor almost everywhere where he appeared, and each time all these three evenings he reported: “Now lilacs are blooming in St. Petersburg! Sit under it, enjoy the aroma. We made black nights white for you!” What Mr. Beglov most likely had to do with was the fact that the Ginza restaurant was left without its long-term headliner – the Leningrad group. Mr. Beglov’s tacit ban on the band’s performances has not yet been lifted. As a result, Mr. Shnurov, as is his nature, did not lose money: according to Ksenia Sobchak, he performed at a party for the Rotenberg family and their friends. And Artik & Asti performed in the half-empty Ginza restaurant.

The most creative events took place on Friday evening. At the film studio “Lenfilm” with the support of the IRI staged a “Pavilion”. You should have seen the chairman of the board of directors of Lenfilm Fyodor Bondarchuk – he literally fluttered and was proud of the studio pavilions. “Look, it happened like this!” – and revealed on the smartphone typical views of the universe of Alexei Balabanov. Now everything looks like from some other universe, maybe even Anna Melikyan, it’s so safe there. The party of the T1 holding, the secular debutant of the forum, also passed with a cosmic swing. During the day, the holding signed an agreement with the space company SR Space on the first private launch in Russia, and in the evening, cosmonaut Yulia Peresild led their evening on New Holland, where there was a ballet number with robots and a concert by Polina Gagarina with a standard dancer.
