A European Vega C rocket was launched from the Kourou launch site in French Guiana. Launch operator Arianespace said it was unsuccessful.
The rocket flew for approximately two minutes and 27 seconds, after which the Zefiro 40 engine failed. The data is being analyzed to determine the cause of the failure.
Vega C was expected to launch two Earth remote sensing satellites, Pleiades Neo 5 and Pleiades Neo 6, into orbit.
The Vega-C rocket has become a new version of the Vega light class rocket. Its height is 35 m, which is five meters higher than the initial version. It is capable of carrying 2.2 tons of cargo into a polar orbit at a height of 700 km.
