The EU General Court has again issued a decision to suspend sanctions against Russian racing driver Nikita Mazepin, his team told TASS. They justified the decision “by the need for temporary measures to prevent serious and irreparable damage to the athlete.”

“Nikita Mazepin retains the right to enter the EU to negotiate with Formula 1 teams and participate in other competitions. He can also receive income in connection with racing activities and negotiate with sponsors, ”added the team.

Nikita Mazepin competed in Formula 1 for the American Haas team. In March 2022, he came under EU sanctions along with his father, Dmitry Mazepin, the owner of Uralkali, which was one of the title sponsors of Haas. Haas also refused to cooperate with Nikita Mazepin. He challenged the sanctions in the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg. In March 2023, the court allowed him entry into the territory of the European Union for negotiations with the Formula 1 teams. Despite this, the EU Council extended the sanctions against Nikita Mazepin for another semester. In June the London Court refused let the rider go to the UK. Nikita Mazepin requested permission to enter the country for negotiations with Formula 1 teams.
