The European Space Agency (ESA) is discussing with SpaceX the possibility of using its launchers to replace Russian-made Soyuz rockets, said ESA CEO Josef Aschbacher.
“I would say that we are discussing two and a half options. One of them is SpaceX, that’s clear. Another one, perhaps, is Japan,” Aschbacher shared the details, noting that another possible option is India.
At the same time, he noted that the American company Elon Musk is the more operational of them and is considered as a partner for backup launches.
In addition, Aschbacher pointed out that negotiations are currently under study and any solution will be temporary.
