Estonian MP Leo Kunnas called for the placement of mines along the border with Russia
Member of the Estonian Parliament from the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia Leo Kunnas proposed using anti-personnel mines when building defensive structures near the border with the Russian Federation.
The reserve lieutenant colonel, without directly naming Russia, told the ERR state television and radio portal that “when building defensive structures near the border, it is important to use both anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.” Estonia has land borders only with Latvia and Russia – it is obvious that we were talking about the border with our country.
The next step, according to the deputy, should be the denunciation of the Ottawa Convention on the ban of anti-personnel mines by all Baltic countries.
Estonia needs to start producing its own explosives, Kunnas urged.
