Erdogan said the conflict in Ukraine will last a long time

The conflict in Ukraine will continue for a long time, despite all efforts for a peaceful resolution, stated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an interview with PBS.
“It is absolutely clear that this war will last a long time and will not end soon,” the Turkish leader said. He assured that Turkey will continue to make efforts to establish peace in Ukraine.
Erdogan also added that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants the conflict to end soon and assured that he believes his words.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the parties held negotiations several times in February and March 2022. The last, fourth meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul. After which the process was frozen because Kyiv withdrew from it. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree refusing negotiations with Russia as long as Putin is its president.
Erdogan at a press conference after negotiations with Putin on September 4 again statedthat Ankara is ready to take on mediation in Ukraine. Putin emphasized that the Turkish leader has always paid and is paying great attention to resolving the situation in Ukraine; under him, agreements were reached with the Ukrainian side and documents were agreed upon.
