American M1 Abrams tanks will soon be transferred to Ukraine. This was announced by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin during the opening of a meeting of the contact group on the issue of Ukraine in Germany.

“I am pleased to announce that the M1 Abrams tanks that the United States previously promised will soon reach Ukraine,” the country’s defense minister said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian side reported that Kyiv expects Washington to receive over 10 Abrams tanks. It is worth noting that back in February 2023, President Joe Biden stated that the United States intends to send 31 combat units to Ukraine.

According to the Pentagon, since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, Washington has sent Kiev 160 155-mm howitzers, a Patriot air defense system, 109 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 90 Stryker infantry fighting vehicles, more than 1,700 highly mobile multi-purpose wheeled vehicles and others. As a result, according to estimates by the US Department of Defense, the country has allocated assistance to Ukraine totaling $30.4 billion throughout the conflict.
